Sub: Admissibility of fuel charges to the Judicial Officers of the West Bengal Judicial Service.

Sir,

I am directed by order of the Governor to say that a member of West Bengal Judicial Service who owns car and does not use pool car will be entitled to 75 liters of petrol or diesel in ‘A’ and ‘A1’ city and 50 liters of petrol or diesel in all other district and sub-divisional centers or equivalent price thereof per mensum. A Judicial Officer who owns a scooter and does not use pool car will also be entitled to 25 liters of petrol or equivalent price thereof per mensum irrespective of his place of posting.

It is also clarified that the classification of the cities on the basis of population criteria as adopted by the State of West Bengal will be the criteria for determining the status of ‘A’ and ‘A1’ city mentioned above.

This order is issued in compliance with the direction of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India dated 06.12.2005 read with order dated 07.02.2006 passed in Writ Petition (Civil) No.1022 of 1989 and with the concurrence of the Finance Department vide their U.O. No.1095 Group ‘P’ (Service) dt. 16.03.2006.
