No Government employee are allowed to do intraday trading. Because intraday trading involves frequent buy/sell which is not allowed by the Government Employee.
However, investment in stock market is perfectly legal for a Government Employee. The capital gain (Short term or long term) is taxable as per IT act. The total taxable amount can be seen from the broker platform upon which tax can be paid.
