My first joining date is 28.04.2006, on 17.08.2010 I joined my new school with 4.4 year service continuation. So here, in my new school which service book will be maintained? My first one? H.M (new school) said to open a new service book.. … Thanks to all.

On which ground he was started a new service book?
March 4, 2013 at 1:59 pm #77167unknownParticipantis there any problem in future if the H.M not maintained 1st up-to-date service book in case of service continuation.
Yes, there may be problems during retirement. While calculating retirement benefit, total service period is to be counted. At that time confusion will arise; and the dealing person may need the proof of your past service records. However, if H.M. records your past service period in new Service Book, that record is not sufficient to prove that you had not any adverse report in your career. So, you must carry out the old one and continue it further to keep up the integrity of your service, which (integrity clearance) is very essential during promotion.
March 4, 2013 at 6:46 pm #77181unknownParticipantIt is always a good practice to maintain one service book through out the entire service of the employee as far as practicable. However, it is also a common practice to open new service book when the employee joins another service in a new organisation, with full benefit of service continuity. This is simply because of the fact that the old service book with up to date record is transferred to the new organisation about 3 – 4 months after the employee is relieved from previous organisation. Sometimes, the previous organisation transfers the old service book with up-to-date entries after the lien period of 2-3 years is terminated. During this period, the new organisation has no other alternative but to open a new service book based on the LPC and the release order issued by the previous organisation because, as per rules, service book should be opened from the first day of joining the service, and pay should be regularised.
There will be no problem if the two service books are tagged together in a single file! I have two service books maintained in my present govt. organisation – one was opened in present organisation at the time of my appointment, and the other one (old) which was transferred by previous organisation after two years when first spell of my lien period was completed. Initially LPC and CERTIFIED COPY of previous service book with up-to-date records were forwarded to the new organisation at the time of relief. Anyway, lien was extended by one more year (2+1), but the ORIGINAL service book with up to date entries was forwarded to present (new) govt. organisation after 2 years when present organisation placed requisition to the previous organisation for the previous service book on DEMAND BASIS. There are lots of similar examples.March 5, 2013 at 3:56 am #77190unknownParticipant@donyi_polo ,in fact it was not a lien case.I submitted my up to date service book at the time of my joining. However it is clear that there is no problem in future..thanks a lot.

Very surprising! How does an employee himself submit his Service Book in the new office?? It’s the duty of the previous office to transfer it to new office by registered post to avoid possibility of tampering in the interim period!
