Everyday when we pass through the streets of Kolkata, we see at least 3/4 eunuchs begging at traffic lights from the occupants of the cars .This looks very pathetic. They are healthy and apparently physically fit to perform any duty in any organisation or government department according to their educational skill. The eunuchs are the part of the anthropology and human race. The eunuchs are the sould of females trapped in the male bodies and some males souls trapped in the female bodies resulting in different type of physical behaviour. Our governments have been making reservations for the people belonging to SC/ST and OBC in the government jobs. However, there is no feelings in the minds of our ministers or bureaucrats that eunuchs are also a part of our society and they have also right to life enshrined under Article 21 of the Indian Constitution. It is a sordid state of affairs that able-bodied persons are being forced to beg for their livelihood and no one is coming forward to help them to pass a dignified life.Good numbers of man power which can be used for the welfare of the street is getting wasted. If the reservations can be there for the handicaps and disabled persons in the government jobs, why it should not be there for the eunuchs who have been deprived by the God? Handicaps and disables have also been deprived by the God. So why this arbitrariness? Are they even not fit for doing the jobs of a Group D staff ? Cannot they work as a sweeper in the government offices? Cannot they be trained to work as a driver in the government offices and organisations? Can not they be given the responsibilities of running canteens in the Government offices. Why the government is not fixing a certain percentage of quota for them in the government jobs from the quotas of handicaps and disables? Most of the eunuchs are drop out from the schools due to the taunts and mockeries of their classmates and unacceptance by the society. It is high time that the sensible persons of the civil society should think about them and try to rehabilitate them by providing jobs in Government departments, organisations and other places where they can be utilised due to their physical abilities and fitness. Kindly think that we are all the human beings and our wives may also bear the child having the traits of opposite sex. In that case should such children should be killed by the parents? Do good jobs for these poor eunuchs and give them a little space in society for comfortable breathing. I would look forward for the opinions of the honourable members of this forum.

We just try to bypass them keeping safe distance. Never try to listen their mind. Never consider them as a part of our society. I am completely agree with you. Thanks for your post and I think this topic would better fit in grievance.
December 15, 2012 at 1:22 pm #75989unknownParticipantA very important topic in deed. I’m not for the reservation (as it is now) on the basis of caste… and not sure whether this should be extended to the eunuchs but there should be scheme for them. but i’d like to know about their physical limitations for any job if any
December 18, 2012 at 2:01 pm #76027unknownParticipantAt present, there are 2 million eununch in India. The Govt. of India has yet not given them their fundamental rights i.e. voting right. Whereas in Pakistan already they achieved the right to vote. (Source: http://asiancorrespondent.com/74591/tra … t-to-vote/)
Recently a Mumbai based NGO has filed a public interest litigation (PIL) before the Bombay high court (HC) demanding that eunuchs should be treated as humans with fundamental rights and should be issued voter identity cards. (Source: … 95905.aspx)
The petition is likely to come up for hearing this week. Let’s see what happens.December 18, 2012 at 2:53 pm #76042unknownParticipantDear friends of this forum,
Again I have to say something against the system. As our admin nemo said in last post there are 2 million those types of human being living in India and the number is the increasing.
Dear friends what is your opinion regarding why they are still not getting treatment from the society or from the system – because they do not have the voting power. They are not a community, an eunuch never gives the birth of another eunuch so far. The only way of their growth in number is only through genetic disorder.
If somehow they could get the right of voting then the system will think about their life. Until and unless they have to suffer. The number is increasing day by day. I am expecting some political party would raise the matter as an issue.
Here is an information to you all. The eunuch of India do not have the voting power but they can submit their nomination for vote. In near past we have already seen an eunuch submitted it’s nomination in an election probably in Bhopal and I forgot the exact details of the fact.December 21, 2012 at 6:32 am #76092unknownParticipantA couple of days back I was in New Delhi when I found an eunuch begging for alms at a traffic signal. He was about 6’3″ in height and well built (probably from Haryana) and was physically fit to do all the jobs which a human being can do for earning a respectable livelihood. I felt that he could be utilised as a durwan or security guard at any place in New Delhi. On the other hand I failed to understand that New Delhi which is the hot bed of politics and thousand of leaders passed through those streets did not have senses to feel about them. In the first week of January 2013 when India will usher into the new year, I would submit an application under RTI Act before the Election Commission requesting them to provide the information about its policy about the eunuchs and also as to why not they had been granted the status of voters. I am gathering the relevant information and also intend to file a case in the Supreme Court of India making the union of India and the Election Commission as respondents into the matter. Nowadays petitions in Supreme Court of India are filed online also. I would request the learned members of this forum to provide me more details which could be beneficial to me for preparing a case in their favour. I am thankful to nemo and tanmoy for giving the examples concerning the unfortunate community. I would invite the interest of others also to guide/help me to gain more information. Could anyone of you guide me with the Ministry of Justice and Social Welfare can be approached for their help into the matters? Thanks once again for your moral support.

I like to share a paper of Shoma A Chatterji published in http://www.humanrightsdefence.org/eunuc … ights.htmlDecember 21, 2012 at 11:59 am #76130unknownParticipantThanks tanmoy babu, it gives me immense pleasure in enhancing my knowledge through your post. I learnt a lot of secrets which were shrouded in the mystery. A ghastly way of life and animal like living has given a very dreadful picture of the entire customs and practice. Do we have any moral right to claim ourselves a civilized nation? What a horrible torture on a human being? Making one an eunuch artificially is an unpardonable crime. Why only rapists should be given lifer? Why there is demand of death for the rapists? Why not death for the persons who castrate another human being by a rude and ruthless surgical procedure? Alas! our law says that castration is an offence under section 326 IPC…..and nothing else. A small time punishment, if proved. Where are we going?
