There has been no revision of the TA Rules and the admissible TA and DA rates in the last Pay Commission. The rates are continuing as per ROPA 98 only. Is that feasible in todays context? For example the present DA rate on official tours, for the employees holding Pre-revised Scale No. 16, 17 etc. is Rs.120/= in WB (except Kolkata & Darjeeling) as “local DA”or “halt at own arrangement DA”. I don’t know whether is it possible to manage our daily expenses with that amount on official tours for doing the govt works. I have to travel to Raiganj from other district for performing govt works and make halts there (due to additional charge) . I’ve to stay in pvt hotels for that purpose. For Pvt Hotel stay in WB (other than Kolkata & Darjeeling) govt allows maximum Rs. 225/= DA for an officer of my scale. Is it feasible for me to carry out my job? In raiganj a modest hotel rent is above Rs. 225/=, a medium non veg meal cost Rs. 80/= or above leaving aside the tiffin cost etc. I wonder how employees are managing with such budget. Getting through tough times. I dont know when this problem would be addressed. Any comments or suggestions.

But unfortunately, it was not. At present the rates are applicable as per order of the year 1999. How can an employee manage at present with the 14 years old rates? Many employees who have to travel due to their professional responsibilities; they have to bear the additional expenditure from their own pocket. At least the rates should be enhanced 3 times, in my opinion.

In central govt. services the TA/DA (Daily Allowance) rates were revised (enhanced) with the implementation of the 6th CPC recommendations and, again the same have been enhanced by 25% when DA (Dearness Allowance) reached 50%.
