GIS= GROUP INSURANCE SCHEMES.Group Insurance Scheme is life insurance protection to groups of people. Group life insurance is ideal for family and employees.
For example, KERALA Government have reclassified the scale of pay of Groups and revised the rate of subscription to the Group Insurance Scheme with effect from 01/09/2011
    Scale of Pay
    29180-43640 and above
    18740-33680& above but below 29180-43640
    9190-15780& above but below 18740-33680
    8500-13210& above but below 9190-15780
    Group Rate
    A 300
    B 250
    C 200
    D 150
In West Bengal for the Teachers is not mandatory to join in GIS. You may have a policy through any of the Agent, like LIC Agent.
    Thank you.
